Topic tags/keywords: hettich drawer slides drawer slides undermount accuride blumotion blum

Hi All,

I was reading the June 2008 FWW article on undermount drawer slides and I want to get some of the Hettich drawer slides they mentioned. The were less than half the price of the Accuride and Blum slides and seemed to have the same functionality. The Hettich website is USELESS. They don’t have a list of dealers or tell you where you can actually buy their products!! Also on the website they have IW20 drawer slides (partial and full and IW21 drawer slides and I cannot for the life of me figure out what the difference is between the two; of course they don’t say.

I live in Los Altos, California. Can anyone help me out here? I need to buy local in case I have to return them.

Lloyd

Try MacMurray Pacific….415-552-5500

Thank you all for your responses. I ended up calling Hettich and they suggested MacMurray Pacific. I called MacMurray up and they have a will call door and probably have what I need. Thanks all.

Hey Lloyd,
I’ve never tried the Hettich guides, Would you mind doing a little review on what you think about them. Or maybe just pm me and let me know what you think if you don’t want to write a review. They look pretty good, and if they’re cheaper that’s even better.
Good luck with your project.

If you PM me your email address I’ll send you the F W W review comparing them all. It does not get into the specifics of why Hettich is less than half the price. It will take me a while to get my project together enough to write any kind of review.

Hey guys, I noticed your thread and thought I could help clarify some things about the Quadro slides.

The Quadro IW20 and IW21 slides are very similar. When it comes time to use them, the only real difference you will find is that the IW20 slide family is available in 2” increments whereas the IW21 slides only come in 3” increment sizes.

Consequently, the IW21 slides can also act as drop-in replacements for Blum Tandem slides.

For the technically curious, the 20 and 21 come from the distance in mm between the inside edge of the cabinet and the inside edge of your drawer box. Both slides still give you a max 16mm thickness for your drawer side though.

Anyone would probably want the IW21. I’ve never really understood the reasoning behind the IW20. An important downside difference is that the IW20’s hole pattern is 2mm off from everything else. Setback 35mm instead of typical 37mm. It’s a shorter cabinet member too so you may need a third row of system holes. Also I’m told the faceframe guys can’t/don’t use it because there’s no socket avauilable for rear mounting cabinet member.

The big difference between the two is the load. 75lbs for 21, 100lbs for 20. I’m guessing the 21 was made later to knock off the blum. I think the hettich is a better design, but blum is just better known. It’s like coke and pepsi. Blum stores can’t sell hettich and vise vs..

If I am not mistaken the undermount glideds that I purchased from Rockler, for a recently completed new kitchen, were from Hettich.

However, the Rockler price is quite a bit more $$ (surprize?) than the links that others have supplied to above .

The Rockler catalog does not list them as being Hettich brand, but when I needed technical assistance, I was directed by Rockler to Hettich. So as far as model number of these glides, I am not much help.

The installation required some head-scratching on the first drawer, but after I overcame the learning curve, they were a cinch to install and adjust.

Good Luck
