They are now in at my local woodcraft, I spent about 10 minutes looking at it yesterday. Fit and finish are very nice the two wheel up front are massive and spin/bevel very quickly and extremely smoothly. The only thing that stuck on the negative side, was the insert. It has the large width typical of a cabinet saw, however it seemed a bit chinsey / light weight compared to the mass of everything else.

Hi sIKE;

I too was at a woodcraft store yesterday, and took a look at the new unisaw.

It looks to me like they did a great job with it. As you mention, the fit and finish is more in line with what it SHOULD be.

Instead of their previous attempts at keeping the cost down, at the expense of a quality product, they have decided maybe there is a market for quality products. Thanks in part to the success of Saw stop.

I was very impressed with this saw, and in particular, the riving knife / splitter, and blade guard set up.

Overall, I couldn’t help but walk away thinking it’s about time…

I think they did a fantastic job on this one. no. it doesn’t have new technologies in it- but it’s a saw that’s designed to be a quality saw – and they seemed to have nailed it down.

as far as the insert – aren’t we all replacing the factory plates with zero clearance plates anyways? I wouldn’t worry much about how great the factory plate is as it always sat hidden somewhere in my cabinet/drawer… heck , not even sure where it is..

Very very true, my factory plate only comes out for the odd bevels….

Looks like a much better choice than Jet or steel city.

The other thing I told my friend at Woodcraft was that if I was going to drop 3K on something it more than likely it would be a Sawstop.

I spent about 20 minutes checking one out at a local machine shop, and if SWMBO would go along with it, I would have one on order. This is a quality machine.

Interesting, though, that the one I was looking at had a phenolic zero-clearance insert installed.

Going to our wood working show this weekend and am looking forward to seeing this new saw.
Probably be a while till I can afford it after my last major purchase but from looking at their website,, can’t wait to see it in action.

I have read that Delta is not shipping the mobile bases as yet but are shipping the Unisaw. I would be pretty upset if that happened to me.

I have not seen any posts from people who actually have the Unisaw. I am interested in what they have to say.
