Topic tags/keywords: contest giveaway

Well it’s getting about that time for me to have a giveaway contest again. I liked the shadow contest and found that the response was great. I do appreciate that and hope to have success with these contests as well. I am going to be having 3 contest in the near future. When? I don’t know yet but the first one will be very soon, within a few days. The prizes I have are 2 digital cameras (both used but in working condition) and a brand new “PONY” Band Clamp. And it IS a nice band clamp. I bought two and have used one of them. I have slowed down considerably on box making, shifting my gears into carving. So I don’t need as many band clamps as I have. Lucky you.
Because each item is pricier then a typical giveaway I will request a $45 shipping and handling fee from the winners. This will cover a majority of the cost of the prize, shipping, and give me some pocket change. LOL I’m just kidding. Shipping is part of the prize. That would be funny though….right? LOL
Anyhow, I’m not sure what I want to do yet. I think the Pony clamp may be a build off contest due to the nature of the prize. I was also thinking that I would do a contest that gave away 1, 2, and 3rd prizes and only have one contest. Giving the band clamp as 1st, the more expensive camera as 2nd, and the least for 3rd.
All of this is undecided. But, the bottom line is that I want to give back to my fellow lumberjocks for all the contributions you all do here. It is appreciated and hopefully the contests say that.
If you have any suggestions for contests I’m all ears, however, I am the ultimate chooser of what takes place. I hope you all enjoy the contests that I or anyone posts here and have fun with them. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET OSAGEMANS SPOON CONTEST. He has posted a blog of the contest and I have posted a forum topic for it. You can find it by going to either of our profiles. He does a wonderful job making spoons and it would be an honor for me or anyone here to have one of them. Please support him.

BTW, I am also working with the maker of the bowlsaw in coming up with a contest for that. So keep your eyes open for that one as well. Giveaways are cool so good luck and have fun.

Hey Keith
Not that I know a lot about it but.a contest on the best blog on how to carve I guess you shouldn’t win your own contest. Or Why my wife should want me to buy tools, Or the most amazing woodworker I’ve know.

For one of the cameras, how about doing a photo contest including a project that someone has done. For example LJs could submit a photo of a large family meal around a table built by the contestant or a couple swinging on a porch swing that someone made? I’ve always wanted to see photos of some of these amazing pieces in use rather than just a shop photo of it.

Mac that would kinda defeat the purpose as those cameras are meant for those that don’t have a camera to begin with to take that picture… lol.

How about the clamp goes to the jock with the sloppiest glue-up (because he needs it most)?

Purp, good point but if you don’t have a camera how can you enter a contest and show your piece? Describe it in words? : ) I wouldn’t mind winning a second camera. The one we have now is pretty nice but my fiance doesn’t like me using it in the shop or taking it camping because she’s afraid I’ll break it.
