I bought an older craftsman 4 inch trim saw, model 315.11890, This saw probably dated back to the 70’s. Looks like its not been used very much and has set on a shelf for years. I noticed that it seems to make some “rattling”
noise when first turn on until it reaches full speed (7000 rpm). It also makes the same noise when its slowing down before the blade stops. Does any body know how to tell if this saw has a gearbox and maybe the factory grease has dried up somewhat in the gear box. I’d like to put this little saw back into use, but don’t want to start if it needs some maintenance. This little saw is commercially rated, according to the emblem on the housing. Thanks for any help with the concern.
