So I finally got the OK by the watch commander (wife) to purchase a new table saw. Decided on the Grizzly 1023rlw, but Grizzly said it is unavailable until mid April. My draw to the RLW is the built in router table and the price. My other option is the 0690 but it is more expensive and no router extension. The router extension would be $300 more. However, the 0690 Is available now. I’m a hobbyist and just sold my contractor saw with built in router recently. Now, I’m without a saw. What to do? Is the 0690 $500 (including the extra router extension) better then the 1023? If Grizzly quote of mid April accurate?

I had the same problem last year when I ordered a RLW. It wasn’t available in August either.
I first wanted the 5 hp model then when I couldn’t get that one I asked for the RLW and after waiting 3 months and it still wasn’t available, I went to the G0690. I am actually very pleased with the 690. It has tons of power and has never bogged down.
I thought I would miss the router extention, but I already have a Incra table and the table saw one would be nice to have.
I did find out after looking at the table size, the 690 has a larger table surface than the RLW and if needed, making a router table to fit between the rails isn’t really that hard to make.
There are also after market table that will mount onto the 690. They are all 27” between rails, so it didn’t bother me that much.
Whichever one you get, I am sure you will be happy.
I also had a few damaged and missing pieces and Grizzly customer service was great. They sent out the replacement parts without question. I am very pleased with my purchase. I am sure you will be as well.

Get the G0690 and build your own router table…or what about the G1023RL and build your own router table?

From an engineer’s point of view, I like the G0690 better anyway.
But, if the back order thing were reversed, I could be just as happy with either one.
I would probably build my own router table in either case.

Nope, but the G1023RL has dovetailed ways.

I ordered it on Thursday the 12th. Got it Monday the 16th.
Just got done putting it together, just waiting on the electric to get connected. Was supposed to get done last Saturday, then sometime this past week, Looks like it will get connected tomorrow. Then SAWDUST.

Why did you go 1023 over 0690 Tom?

Well it boiled down to 2 things.
1…} Size (width right to left)
2…} price
My shop is in the basement and is long and skinny (11’ X 27’) so I needed to put the TS at the far end with my back to the door. At that end there is the foundation for the chimney that is 36” X 42” in the corner so the shop is only 7’6” wide back there. Therefore having the longer rails on the 0690 was not a plus and was actually a negative.
The 1023 was $170 less and $50 less in shipping.
The only negative for me with the 1023 was I couldn’t get it in the white…lol

What about the 1023RLWX? Is that backordered too? An extra 2 HP for $20 more on an otherwise identical saw. The only thing you’ll need to consider with that is the power requirements and whether you’ll have to upgrade the wiring in your shop to accomodate the 23A requirement for the X model.
