I understand the site needs to create revenue, and I have no issue with a few adds on the site. In fact I occasionally see something I am interested in. But enough is enough. The increase in adds run on this site and the bandwidth they consume, have destroyed what was once my favorite woodworking site. Making money is great, greed is bad. Keep up the adds and you will loose many members. You might make a quick buck, but in the long run you will loose your members. I find myself coming here less and less just because I get frustrated with the speed. PLEASE find a way to fix this. I doubt I am the only member frustrated here.

If you are a member of this site and you are frustrated as well, please make a comment and let the site know about it. If we rise up together maybe we can save it.

My adds just are on the right of the screen and I ignore them.
I am new to the site but the enjoyment and information and ideas are great. I don’t always agree but that someone’s opinion. This is the best site I have seen and will support it.

I suggest an ad blocker. I use Adblock Plus on Firefox and see no ads.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/

Edit: I disabled Adblock. This page takes seven seconds to load. With Adblock enabled, it loads in one second. But then, I miss out on the coupon for double cheese pizza!

My suggestion is that if you don’t like the ads that pay for this website, campaign for a premium membership. You would pay a monthly or annual fee and that would eliminate or severely reduce the amount of ads.

The other alternative is to have this site available only to paying members. No ads and access only if you pay. However this would reduce the amount of members and the ideas that come from this forum.

Become a paying member would reduce their dependence on the ads.

I also just joined and I too don’t like the ads nor on Youtube blocking the screen, I’m on limited data out here in the country so it is frustrating. Something has to pay for the sight whether it’s the ads or us, nothing is free on the internet, but it is annoying.

Hate to say it, but the obnoxious ads on this site drove me to start using an ad blocker. I certainly have mixed feelings about doing it because I know they need to make money to survive, but it just got to the point where I didn’t want to come back anymore.

Add my name to the list of people who would be happy to pay an annual subscription fee for a 100% ad free version.

I personally dont see a problem with the ads at all. They are only on the right side of the screen. I think this is actually one of the least intrusive sites for ad’s I use.

I am absolutely not understanding the problem. When I am looked in the ads are on the right and I just ignore them.

The comment about YouTube blocking the screen confuses me. I only get YouTube video when I click on a link in a post.

I would not have a problem paying for an ad free version if it were possible.

Like already mentioned what is the alternative? Pay to join or foot the bill for your own site!

Yes, tired of being bombarded with advertizing see or hear each day, that is what pays the bills.

Do not see the ads everyone complains about, not sure but think has something to do with my browser or security settings. Do see ads if scroll over highlighted words in a thread so far not a problem. Pretty sure this site gets paid when click on them, so see no harm or foul.

So top complaining, adjust your settings or get an add blocker.

Looking forward to new thread for vendors that advertise here Cricket mentioned few weeks ago. Will they give discount to members here? Answer e-mail questions about products they sell? Cannot wait to find out.

This is a great site, I’m very happy to have found this site. I like it’s format and how we can move through the site with ease. And all the info anyone could want all in one place. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a member.

No one likes ad’s, but most of us just live with them or find a way to put the stops to them.

A few guys here are telling you what to do to stop them. Give it a try, I use it with Google Chrome and it works for me!

Well, I had somewhat the same problem – slow loads, on multiple sites, including eBay and Lumberjocks.
I just installed the adblocker software and after a couple of simple settings, my machine is much faster all the way around, and I am looking at no ads on this site for the first time ever. I run Windows Internet Explorer.
Fastest surfing I have seen in quite a while….
I also run CCleaner free edition. That also speeds up my machine when I run it, about once a week.
