Topic tags/keywords: mdo question

Hello,

I have just gotten into woodworking, and this site has been a fantastic resource to me.

Does anyone know of a place in North Atlanta (Alpharetta / Cumming) that stocks MDO? I’d like to take a 4×8 sheet, attach it to my fence, and paint it with chalkboard paint.

I’ve checked the local HD and Lowe’s and they don’t carry it.

Thanks in advance!

Try Suwanee Lumber Company in Buford or North Georgia Hardwoods. NGH may be Hardwoods Inc. now.

Home Depot carries it too. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbranded-3-8-4x8-4-Ply-MDO-P1s-Plywood-208553/202088754 And you really need to go by Suwanee Lumber. They have a large millwork operation and reject lumber at the millwork operation is sold cheaply at an outdoor shed. Lots of maple and other hardwood. Great for home workshop stuff. Just work around the flaw. Bring gloves as you will have to turn over a lot of boards.

I am in Atlanta too. Where are the two of you located? I am in the Sandy Springs area.

Thanks Planeman. It looks like none of the HD stores near me have it in stock. I did call Lummus Supply Company and they have 3/4” sheets at their Roswell location. I may head over there next week as they’re not open on weekends.

I definitely plan on checking out Suwanee Lumber. Thanks for the tip on the reject lumber – always nice to save some $$.

Small world – I lived in Sandy Springs for most of my life. We moved up to Cumming a few years ago.
