let me know are you making a one sider or two sider on both the side need to be about 1/16 no more than 3/32 thick i make the chamber or hole about 1 3/8 deep by 4 1/8 long 1 3/8 wide rounded on each end with 1in stock left at each end and diped for the belly of the sound board the sound board need to be about 1/4 thick rounded to a 1/6 taper on each side i cut the chamber with a router and a pattern just like you would a door hinge for a one sider l leave the side sticking up the thicknes of the board plus 1/16 you can leave this on left for right hand or right for left hand and by the way cedar makes the best sounding calls i use cabnet makers chalk on mine but any chalk will work good luck with the call and the hunt i love gunning gobblers

Thanks Gar! Im making a two sider. I made one out of cedar it sounds good but it is a little high pitched. Got to find out how to lower the tone.

I’m looking at making one now. Got plans off of www.customsawing.com.

I hope I don’t get in trouble for posting another website on here.

I made one using plans from customsawing.com. I experimented with the plans with longer ones as well. My observation is you should use a harder wood for the lid. Also, the grooves in the sides helped a lot with tone. Pretty sure the thinner the sides or reduction of mass (grooves) ultimately tunes the call.
