Texas Ebony by the pallet. I have 3 pallets of logs that I’m offering for sale. Logs are roughly 36”-42” lengths. Half ton +/- each. $620paypal/$600 check or MO + freight, $300-350 to the farthest reaches of U.S. I’m at the southern tip of TX.

Its not iron wood but very similar, I cant tell the difference.

A freind sent me a piece of ironwood. I will compare the two.

The TX ebony, its translucent and has a wider range of colors. The ironwood is nice if your after bold streaky grains.
The density is roughly the same.
They are two different woods so it depends on what your after.

I live in Houston. Where in south Texas are you? I don’t k ow much about this kind of wood – how is it typically used?

greenwoodbob, its a very dense wood, I use it for spindle applications. Some people use it for Musical instruments others for inlays, its basically up to the crafter. Finishes with a translucent appearance.
