Been pricing mortisers, this one at Grizzly seems to really offer a lot for the $$$. I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with it: T20836 Heavy Duty Mortising Machine with Stand

Wow, you were not kidding, that is allot of bang for your buck. Almost “To Much” bang for your buck if you know what I mean. I never heard of the brand though, so I could not even begin to say if it was a good tool or not.

I’ve read reviews of woodstocks Dovetail jig, and basically everyone says it is junk.

If the mortiser is of the same quality, then I would not recommend it.

I still can not say if it is a good deal or not, but I went to steelex web site, here is the owners manual if you would like to look it over.

Wow, when I saw the price I could not believe my eyes. From the description it sounds like a quality machine but does not necessarily tell the whole truth.

Dan if you do decide to purchase one please give a full review.

I wrote to Grizzly last night & they sent me the manual, though I haven’t had a chance to look at it yet (thanks anyway, Don). Apparently, this same machine has been marketed under a slew of brands/names, including Craftex/Busy Bee in Canada, Yorkcraft sold by Wilke, and Laguna current sells one that sure looks like the same machine, except it goes for $775. Here's a link from Laguna, click on “Videos” below the pic for interesting clip on the machine in action. Lastly, here’s a thread from Sawmill creek on the Yorkcraft version with some good info.

Living in Seattle, I can just drive up to Griz in Bellingham if I decide to go this way. I picked up a bandsaw of theirs about a year ago this way & have been very pleased with it. Still I agree, almost seems too good to be true…

Thanks all for the input.

Dan
