I just received a Dewalt 13” planer. It has a small dust port piece that attaches to the planer. Does anyone know what specific dust adaptor fits this to connect to a typical craftsman 2 1/2” shop vac? The end of the shopvac hose goes into the port a very small amount. Neither the craftsman hose or any non flexible pieces fit over the port. They are the same exact size. It seems that 2 1/2 male and female ends don’t fit.

I have an adapter for mine that will supposedly allow connection to a shop vac, but I use a 4” hose to my dust collector. I would think a standard 2 1/2” hose would be the preferred size as that’s what’s included with most shop vacs sold today.

If you got the DW735, I would use a 4” hose. With the blower on the planer you will likely blow the smaller hose off. You could just use a 4” hose into a garbage can.

The blower on that planer is very strong.

I have to take the ends out of my hose (bulk hose + ends, not from my vac) and clamp the hose straight to the plastic attachment on my DW735. I have it hooked to a Thien lidded bucket and have to put weights on top to keep it all together. Keeps things pretty clean though.

Perhaps someone makes 2-1/2” couplers?

2 1/4” shop vac hose ends work fine on my DW735

I would stick with a 4” dust hose or that planer. It will quickly overwhelm a shop vac.
