I have a Bosch 1278VS Mini Belt sander which worked great when first purchased. Lately I’ve noticed that the belts break almost immediately after starting the sander. These are Bosch brand belts and the break seems to be at the same location and even at the slowest speed. Any ideas on what’s causing the problem and how do I correct it? Thanks in advance

I have the same sander and when I checked at the tool store were I bought it they said Bosch belts are not any good. Then I was able to have some made by a sandpaper company for less money than Bosch but unfortunately I can’t find the name of the company. If I find the name Ill let you know.

It’s the glue or joint material.

I buy mine at Supergrit.com

I bought some sanding belts in bulk once, never again. They have a definate shelf life and will fail at the seams when they are too old. Lost about 15 belts.

I have the same sander with the same problem. Did you ever find a source for belts? I looked at Supergrit.com, but dont’ know what size to search for.

The belts are listed as “Misc Belts” in the Air File section. Item Number on my invoice was SB-KAM and they were $7.50 for 10 belts.

All of us couldn’t have bought old belts so the problem must be the Bosch belts. Just got through a project using the Supergrit belts and they worked great! Just like the good old days.

Thanks all. I’ve contacted Supergrit and am awaiting direction from them. Can’t wait to get my mini sander up and running again. I’ve missed it!
