I am still VERY new here, but I have just noticed how fast this place is growing. In a little over a week, LJ’s has grown by over 1,100 new members, WOW !!!

About ten days ago LJ’s had around 8,400 members, when I logged on this morning we had over 9,500. I am totally amazed at all the skill and knowledge on this forum, I can only imagine what kind of new ideas and skills we will get from all these new people joining on a daily basis.

I have a TERRIBLE case of insomnia, so there are several nights a week that I am on LJ’s at 2 or 3a.m. just looking at new projects, reading blogs and reading the forums (always looking for new ideas, skills etc).

So far I haved put in my favorites pieces of furnature that I want to try and make with my own ideas added, shop jigs, shop made tools such as air cleanners etc.

I find that I may need to go to LumberJock’s anonymous, I was warned by several members that LJ’s is addictive and they were right. I am constantly logging on JUST to see what new project may have just been added, or new idea that I may be able to use in my shop.

Does anyone have the number to LJA ? (LumberJocks Anonymous)

Thanks again to all who share their projects, ideas and thoughts. And to those new members (newer than me anyways) you will not find a better bunch of woodworkers on the web, these guys are helpful above and beyond just normal friendly help, and if you were to try and add up all the years worth of skills in this one forum you would probably burn out your calculator.

Don, at one time I could keep up not only with the new projects, forum and blog topics but also the comments as well. Now that is just physically impossible unless you stay logged on here 24/7. That would not be so bad but it would be hard to generate any sawdust. :)

But that is just fine. Keep the new members and projects coming. I have often said that everyone, irrespective of where they are in their individual woodworking journey, can both learn from and contribute to the other members of this group.

By the way…...Wnen we reach 10,000 members, we should bestow Lumberjock Emeritus status on the first 25 who joined the list. Are we able to identify the first 25?

Listed in reverse order… #25 to #1. I got this from looking at the member list and selecting most recent and then clicking on the last page.

I hope that the later members of the LJ crew are more active than some of the earlier ones.

A couple of them do post ever so often

Ellen, Phillip Edwards and SawHorse are a couple that come to mind. Of course. Martin our illustrious creator does shop up once in a while.

Karson,
I feel kind of “Weird” posting so much, only been a member for about two weeks. I keep thinking to myself “I am posting WAY to much”....but I see so many nice projects on here, I can’t help myself lol.

Guess I am one of “House Guest” that just doesn’t know when to leave.

Don We all run is spurts. Sometimes you don’t want to see this site for days, maybe weeks

Other times hours are too long.

But once you get behind, you will never catch up. I think I’ve been behind for the last 2 years.

In the beginning, there would maybe 4 or 5 of us online and we’d keeps posting comments on the projects, because back then there were no blogs and there wasn’t any messaging. So the only way you could talk was by commenting.

We had fun then.

We still have fun now.

OK… I still think the Lumberjock Emeritus is a good idea but it seems that most of the “Original 25” are inactive. Thanks for the list interpim! It just seems that 10,000 is such a significant number it should not pass unnoticed. How about we all donate to the site? The economy is in the crapper but even a one time donation of 5 or 10 bucks would be significant. We have the best, easiest to use and most interactive site for woodworking. That alone is worth celebrating. Or failing any of that, have a Twinkie in the workshop while singing the Lumberjocks theme song. I don’t know what the song is but I’ll bet it contains sawdust generated coughing and sneezing. Talk about rambling….WHEW! I’m done….maybe…....

Well, if you/we are going to do something at the ”10,000” member mark, we better come up with something quick, at this rate we will hit the magic number by tomorrow or Friday sometime. We have went p 200 or so in the last day. Less than 400 to go to hit ”10,000”

How about we all kick back and have a toast of our favorite beverage at the moment we see 10,000.
I just hope I’m not at work when I see it!
Karson deserves a “special award” for having the most posts…he hit 10,000 long ago!

This has to be one of the best websites I have ever seen.

Maybe at that time anyone who could or wanted to could donate like a previous post replied. We probably won’t get 10,000 donations but even 2000 donations of a few bucks could provide the proprietor with extended hard drive space or maybe a larger, faster server, or backup capability or whatever. Although it’s going pretty smoothly right now isn’t it?

We should start a forum that lets people tell when they’ve donated with the option of listing the amount. Ha, maybe they could run a 50/50 raffle! Dunno if that’s legal.

There is a way to donate via paypal and if you see the jocks picture and it has a green box around it then they are a doner.

You will see my picture has the green box.
