I have had a General International 10” jointer ordered for around 5 months. I have called the company I ordered it from, and they in turn contact Canadas western distributor for General International, and all they get is a bunch of excuses for it not being delivered yet. This machine is built in Taiwan, then put in a sea can and shipped to Vancouver BC. It is then off loaded put on a train and sent to Quebec where the main distributor is located. The jointer is finally unloaded, put on a truck and sent back to Vancouver, it is then unloaded again put on another truck and sent North to Prince George BC.

Being handled this many times adds huge to the cost and the chances of damage are high. I am really disappointed with General International, I have purchased over $25,000 of tools from them which were mostly ordered with the jointer. If I had known they could not produce everything I required I would have shopped with a different company.

They may have the same problem we have in the US. The dock workers are on strike on the west coast. Everything coming over from Asia has a problem.

Steve, that must be extremely frustrating for you. I think I would cancel that order and get something that is immediately available. Your beautiful new shop isn’t really functional without a jointer.
