i have a question i hope to get an answer to. I started a bookcase 15 years ago it has been in the grarge ever since, It is constructed out of oak. It has accumulated 15 years of dust on it. It is unfinished, is there anyway to remove the dust so it can be finished. Have tried to sand of the dust before but it would not come off.

Welcome to LJ! I’m afraid we have bad news for you. Open grain like oak will have dust down in the wood a bit. Your best bet is probalby to plane it off if you can without ruining (loosening) your joints. Maybe some one else will have a magic bullet. Keep your fingers crossed :-))
