Topic tags/keywords: tucker vise question

Hello all,

I am finally getting around to building a workbench top burly enough to support the Tucker and Twin-screw vises that I picked up used a year ago. I have located detailed instructions on how to properly install the Twin-screw vise but I can’t seem to find any information about how to do the same with the Tucker vise. A quick search of the LJ forums did not produce any results specific to Tucker vise installation or instructions, but perhaps my search abilities are too limited?

Does anyone out there have a copy of the Tucker vise installation instructions that they would be willing to scan and send my way? I understand from what I’ve read thus far that one must be quite precise when installing such vises, and I would very much like to read the manual rather than attempt this process intuitively.

Many thanks for any help that you can provide, and apologies if this is a topic that has already been covered that I have simply failed to locate.

Will

Have you checked with Lee Valley?
A Google search turned up “Tucker Vise by Veritas, sold by Lee Valley”
It looks like a modern version of the Emmert pattern makers vise.

I have looked at the Lee Valley website and could find no information about installing a Tucker vise as they no longer manufacture the vise. But it didn’t occur to me to contact them directly to see if they could furnish me with a set of plans—thanks for the recommendation! I’ll see what their Customer Service folks have to say.

Cheers,

Will

Thanks for the tip—Lee Valley’s customer service sent me the manual first thing this morning. A marvelously quick and considerate response.

Cheers, Will

It’s Lee Valley that deserves the “Hat Tip”.
I only consulted Mr Google and reported my findings.
