Brand new here with a question about dust collection. I have a Delta 50-840 system, and I see that Delta has a new model (50-720) that reportedly can use a 1 micron bag. Both systems are 1 HP. Question: is it possible to use the newer bag on my older system? Would I get better protection this way, or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Yes I think it would be possible if the diameter is the same but it might affect airflow. I thought I read someplace recently that the 1 micron bags actually increased airflow. Don’t quote me, I might have got that wrong but I’m going to see if I can find it again.

But back when I had dust collectors there were aftermarket bags that you could buy that did what you’re asking, I would think they’d be still around.

Fount it:

Second page, righthand side. Under “Fine Filters Increase Airflow and Quality.”, but it states when going from a 30 micron bag.It also said when going from a 5 to a 1 that didn’t improve airflow.
