Topic tags/keywords: saw handsaw tool backsaw lawrenceburg george bishop

I am new to buying vintage saws and I’m hooked. I have found a Lawrenceburg Saw Co. #4 backsaw I am probably going to buy it, but it has “Warranted Superior” meadallion on the handle. Is this a re-handled saw or did Lawrenceburg Saw Co. use those medallions? I know that this is a George H. Bishop saw, which is why I am not sure.

Try posting it with pics over on this thread Someone there, most likely Bob (summerfi), may be able to help you out with some more info.

Josh – You are correct that the Saw was made by G.H, Bishop. Many saw manufacturers used a variety of brand names on their saws. Often these other brands were used on second line (lesser quality) saws. The second line saws also often had Warranted Superior medallions. There is no reason your saw could not be a good user quality saw once cleaned up and sharpened. See this link for more info on Bishop and Lawrenceburg saws.
