Topic tags/keywords: router resource

I got an email this morning from Eagle America advertising a pretty big sale on their bits. I’m not all that familiar with them except that Wood Whisperer has an ad on his site for them. Anybody got any thoughts on these bits?

Eagle America carries Eagle Original router bits and a year back or so they bought over PriceCutter router bits.
I own EA original but never tried PriceCutter. Price wise, PriceCutter is cheaper but can’t really compare the performance since I do not have both. I think you can count on EA original router bits.

AFAIK, Eagle America and Price Cutter have been associated businesses for quite a while, but they just recently merged their catalogs and websites. Also, AFAIK, Eagle America bits are made in the USA at the same factory as the Whiteside bits. Finewoodworking rated the Whiteside and Eagle America bits best overall in their most recent bit comparison.

I’ve had good experiences with the Price Cutter bits and also their green Bargain Bits…the black Price Cutter bits are actually quite good. The Eagle America bits are supposedly better by their own admission, so should be worth at least a try on sale.

Eagle and Price Cutter have been the same company with 2 markets. Eagle for the upmarket and Pricecutter for cheap stuff from Asia. I know that the Eagle bits are all made by Whiteside and are of superior quality. I would buy any bit that they offer as an Eagle Brand without hesitation because experience in dealing with the company shows me that they stand behind what they sell.

I got a bit that was not quite right once and it was exchanged without question. I work just a few minutes from their store and frequent their often.

I recall that Eagle America had a retail store in Wells, Maine at one time. They had a great selection of unusual profiles in their router bits, and some shaper cutters for 1/2” spindles at the time, though now probably obsolete. I have never had a problem with their bits or shaper cutters. I still have a few straight 1/4” cutters that I’ve had for 10 years or more. Their prices on other woodworking tools were reasonable too, and the store was a favorite of mine.
