For all those local to Western NY and Ohio… My cedar strip canoe project is up for sale. You get the strongback, the forms attached to it, the strips that are glued in place to the forms and the remaining strips and cedar lumber that was being used to make the strips. Also included are the bead and cove router bits and Gil Gilpatrick’s book, Building a Strip Canoe. The canoe is 17’6” long and the strong-back is about 18’ long. I can finish making the remaining cedar lumber into strips for an additional $50. This would entail cutting the boards into the 3/4” x 1/4” strips, scarfing them together to make the longer strips and then running them through the router to cut the bead and cove. You will need to provide your own transportation, though I have a neighbor with a dump truck and trailer that is long enough, the fuel surcharge would have to be worked out between you and him. Pictures can be seen at: Asking for $300 or BO for the whole kit and kaboodle. I just ran out of time to devote to the project and my wife wants the space in the garage back. Thanks for looking. -- Rich, anybody want a peanut? |
