Topic tags/keywords: mitre saw saw workshop shop dust miter saw tip question trick

I am looking to build a miter saw station into a long bench that will allow me to cut long lengths (up to 8 ft).
However, I would like to put the saw away when not in use, so that I have a clear bench.

I am thinking of setting the saw into the bench on some kind of lift, so that I can lower it below bench level and then place a “hatch cover” into the bench to give me a continuous bench (i got the idea from my Mrs sewing machine cabinet). I would also like to have some form of integral dust extraction, as my de Walt saw throws a lot of dust around.
Has anyone done or seen anything like this?
Any ideas for a lift mechanism? (the Mrs haas noticed me looking covetously at hers and got in first to tell me to keep my dusty hands off of it!)

There was a guy on here that posted one a while back (maybe 2 years or so). He actually had a bench in which all of his tools were on lifts. I did a quick search and couldn’t find it, but I’m sure someone knows what I’m talking about.
