Topic tags/keywords: cross crucifix religious corpus

Hey guys,
One of the things that got me into woodworking was the desire to build handmade crucifixes. My parents’ church is raising money to build a new church and I’d like to lend a hand by building a selling crucifixes and donating all the proceeds to the building fund.

I’ve finally amassed most of the tools necessary to start turning some out but I’ve hit a brick wall. I can’t find a supplier for the Corpus (just the figure of Jesus without the cross). Surely they must be available wholesale or in bulk (the crucifix builders must get them from somewhere), but I can’t seem to find a vendor. Does anyone know of a place to find them? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Happy Easter, guys.

-Tony

Tony,

I haven’t looked very hard, but I have run into the same thing. I haven’t found them any where either. Good luck.

Yeah, the only ones I’ve found have been really expensive, ie. hand carved and painted. I’ve also found that “Call For Price” is synonymous with “I Can’t Afford It”.

I found a few foriegn manufacturers with minimum orders of 1000 :-)) Guess it’s time to carve them ourselves!

Well, I found a couple. This one from CatholicSupply.com (near the bottom of the page). Then this one% & this one% from Leaflet Missal. Still not necessarily what I’m looking for, but its a start.

Have your say...
