I don’t know if any of you have seen this, but I think it is one of the best tax deductible donation sites I’ve ever run across. And it is a small way to support our troops. Please check it out and if your heart tells you to participate, I know it will be greatly appreciated. Here is the site: GI Woodworkers.

Also here is the article where I found it.

-- When asked what I did to make life worthwhile in my lifetime....I can respond with a great deal of pride and satisfaction, "I served a career in the United States Navy."

I concur Chief! This is a wonderful group to support.
Not only does a hobby help with stress it can save lives. When my nephew, an avid, addicted woodworker, was doing his 2nd tour with the Corps in Iraq, he was stationed “far, far, away…” in a small town-no electricity. He met the local carpenter and would go by at times with the hired translator. He mentioned in one of his calls that things were “stressed”. I went to my local woodworking shop and sent sandpaper, etc. so my nephew could thank the carpenter for the occasional time of normalcy prior to the unit shipping home. Apparently this Iraqi carpenter thought highly of American sandpaper, alerted the Jarheads of “some very not nice things” about to occur and provided “the best supper since I left home” meal.

Have your say...
