Topic tags/keywords: question wood grain grain orientation help blanks blank making end grain

I am thinking about doing a few scrap wood projects, such as band saw boxes and bowl blanks. I’m wondering where should the end grain be if i’m gluing up pieces I obviously don’t want the end grain on the face of whatever i’m making right? I haven’t noticed many people talking about this maybe i’m missing something.

facing the box, the end grain would be on the left and right, edge grain top and bottom.
edge grain cutting boards the end grain would be facing you.
Bowls I don’t turn but the grain facing you looking from the end.
