Topic tags/keywords: joint joinery scarf

I have been asked on how to layout some of the joints I showed in my project.
Well, here are two of them.

The scarf joints. One version has a peg in the middle to hold everything together
and the other uses two pegs on the side faces.

I hope this answers your questions.

You can see both versions at: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/2072

Wow, Gary, this just demonstrates that to be a great woodworker, you must have math and geometry skills (which explains why it’s tough for me…).

Yes, thanks Garry. I’ll have to give it a try. I’ve seen some books on Japanese joinery, but they only showed the joints and didn’t show how to lay them out. Did you come across one, or is this your own method to laying them out?
