I was told I could share this great news last night but I felt compelled to keep my mouth shut until someone else in my family started first. Well the cats out of the bag and I cant wait any longer to announce to my friends here at LJ’s. that last night I became the great aunt to identical twin girls. Irelynn Aspen and Lily Rose. My brothers son, (my nephew) Matt became a first time daddy and my brother became a first time grandfather last night. For as far as we as a family know, we have no twins on our side, yet the mother is from a family of lots of twins. I thought it was the man that determined these things, (twins, especially identical) so off to google I go to get some answers on “the facts of life” LOL!!! -- Allison, Northeastern Ca. Congratulations Great Auntie Allison….Being a twin myself, I have but one suggestion… NEVER EVER give a birthday gift meant for the TWO of them. LOL Give them each a smaller one. They will love you even more for that… -- I love the smell of sawdust in the morning.... |

Congratulations to all concerned! I’m the proud great uncle of ane-year-old male twins, and they are a hoot to play with. Especially when you can give them back to mom and dad when you’re worn out. -- Charlie M. "Woodworking - patience = firewood" |

I didn’t realize it til just now that I’m a great uncle. I knew I was a grand father but never thought of myself as a great uncle. Cool! Congrats Allison. -- Gary, South Central Wisconsin. So much to learn, so little time! |

I have a whole “gaggle” of great nephews & neices. I tell them that a great uncle is like a grandfather, and that in this day and age a kid needs all the grandfathers he can find. -- "Heaven is North of the Bridge" |

Congrats!!! I just realized I’m a great uncle too, but no twins. I suppose they would be twice the fun, though :-)) -- Debt is nothing more than the 21st Century's form of slavery. |

This baby thread reminds me of my wife when we were traveling in the SW. We were pulling our fifth wheel down by the Grand Canyon. Our cell phones hadn’t had a signal for a few days. My wife found a pay phone to call our daughter. When she came out, she was crying. I thought someone must surely be near death! She finally got composed enough that I could understand what she was saying. Our granddaughter had stood up on her own for a few seconds. She was crying because we wouldn’t be there for her first step!! It was a few months before she took a step; we made it, fortunately!! :-)) -- Debt is nothing more than the 21st Century's form of slavery. |

Being a grandparent, great Aunt and all that is the best….when my first grandson was born I got the news (cell phone pic) in the middle of the parking lot at the college apartments I was moving my other daughter into. I screamed really loud and shared the photo with every stranger in the parking lot. Needless to say, my daughter that was moving into the apartment (pictured with me on this site) was a little embarassed, especially when she found out I had shared it with the parents of her boyfriends room mate. We still laugh about it…I try to embarass my children whenever possible. Have fun spoiling, double the pleasure, double the fun!! -- robbi-Yadahooty! |

Not that it really matters, I just found out that one of my grandnieces names were spelled wrong by me, and having a name like Allison and having it spelled a gazillion different ways by people, I just felt the need to set their names straight here. No need to start them out in life with their Aunt screwing things up. LOL!!! -- Allison, Northeastern Ca. Remember, Amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic! |

Congratulations To be “Politically Correct”...........you became a “Grand Aunt”, not a “Great Aunt”. Your grand neice/nephew would have to have a child for you to become a “Great Aunt”. All the best to you and your growing family |

Beautiful names! I’m glad they didn’t go with the common practice of giving twins very similar names. Why make it harder to tell them apart!? Congrats! -- Don't tell her I'm in the shop! |

I just wanted to say again Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I was just down in southern Ca. and was invited to go and see them, Life happens and things never worked out. (They live 45 miles in the opposite direction of anything that was being done) Just because I was on a “vacation” no one else was if you know what I mean. But I am proud and very thankful to announce they are both home now from the hospital (they were born at 32 weeks, 8 weeks early, but they both had such excellent birth weights, (both above 4 lbs.) that they are already home! So again I thank you all! -- Allison, Northeastern Ca. Remember, Amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic! |

Congratulations, Allison. It’s a good thing they’re girls. Uncle Allison somehow doesn’t cut it. ;) -- Even if to be nothing more than a bad example, everything serves a purpose. |
