I’m keeping my eyes open fro deals on a router and 8” dado. I have heard very good things about the Oshlun and I’ve seen some posts here about the Grizzly. The Grizzly is a bit less expensive but I can wait until I fall into a deal on the Oshlun. My question is, is it worth waiting for. I can buy the Grizzly for $49 and the Oshlun for $75 with neither of them on sale. Thanks!!

The Oshlun uses C4 carbide which sharpens to a finer edge and lasts longer. I don’t think the Grizzly uses C4. If you’re a member of any of these forums, you can get 10% off the Oshlun from Holbren by using “woodnet10”, “SMC10”, or “BT310” in the discount code.

Also, there’s a new “6 Avenger listed on Woodnet…AFAIK, Oshlun was formerly Avenger and this is the same as the Oshlun 6” set. $35 plus shipping

Woo Hoo!!! Thanks!! Holbren had the best price I could find to begin with and the 10% code makes it the clear winner. I should probably look and see if there’s anything else there so I can get the total back up over $75 so I can take advantage of the free shipping. I hope my wife appreciates the effort I put into doing her Fathers Day shopping for her :)

If you’ve never dealt with Holbren before, I think you’ll like the way Brian treats you…..super service. All his prices are good, and his Holbren house brand router bits are pretty good for the price….his closeout deals are amazing.

Thanks! I have been to the website and I can’t find anything that will show me his closeouts. Any advice?

Get on his mailing list. What’s left of his “Holbren” line of router bits is limited but are really good deals.

Because my saw falls into the “underpowered” classification, I selected the Oshlun 6” dado set from Rockler, with free shipping. Seventy dollars is a pretty good deal. The set is also made in the USA.

I like this set so well that I now have two of them, one for Gainesville and another for my shop in the Upper Peninsula.
