What species stair tread

Trying to figure out what the stair treads are made from. House was built in 1929. Any ideas????

Looks like cherry to me. Not just the color—the abundance of sapwood, the grain characteristics.. Are those worm holes?

I just put some pecan in the stove that looks a lot like those stair treads. But I would NEVER argue with Danny or Bill!!!
