That was one of the last boxes I thought would win, but who knows what they are thinking. Oh, well.

I must say that I haven’t even noticed the winner box until it won the prize… it does look like a beautiful piece, I like it’s simplicity – but yeah, didn’t quite catch my attention till it was all over.

Again, Gratz GaryK!. That box of yours is truly a masterpiece. The judges must have been partial to someone or something else. I can only dream of having the skills that you have in creating a work of art such as that box.

So that’s the box you are talking about. What ever won the contest must have been something out of this universe!! I saw it almost 2 months ago. Geez, I hate this getting old, fat, slow and loosing my mind ;-)

That is certainly very nice, well executed box. But, IMO, it’s not in the same league with yours. Yours is so far beyond anything most woodworkers could ever do, it’s mind boggling.

Many of the boxes in the contest were real works of art, including yours. Unfortunately, judging art is pretty subjective. It’s sort of like the old saying hat beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But in terms of sheer complexity and woodworking skills, your creation was the clear winner.

The only thing I can think of is that people were maybe intimidated somehow by the complexity of your Box Gary. I mean it’s great, don’t get me wrong. It took me forever to figure out how it works, when I first saw it.

You have my vote. Art is subjective, so please don’t take it personal. Lots of things involved with judged contests. Your work stands on its own. Gary’s , that is. :)
