Topic tags/keywords: downdraft sanding question

I am planning to rebuild my mobile assembly table, most likely 24×60 top, maybe 30×60. Thinking of incorporating downdraft sanding top in at least part of it. Wondering about using the commonly available drop in downdraft inserts versus making my own. What has been your experience?

Ready made inserts could be made to swap between downdraft and solid panels.
Could I make my own solid with say 3/4” holes that could also accept bench dogs?

Thanks for your input. Rick
