I’m making a cryptex with 7 dials that I want to label each dial with the full alphabet around it. Therefore I have 182 letters to mark.

Someone suggested using letter stamps like these and a torch to heat them up and press on the wood to make the letters.

Has anybody used letter stamps in this manner? If so what were your results?

Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

I imagine that would work but would be quite tedious. You would have to hold them w/ a pliers or vise grip. If you buy the HF set check the stamps. My set came w/ 2 N’s and no Q.

Thanks Bondo!

I may just stamp the wood and see about coloring the indent, instead of heating the stamp up.
