Topic tags/keywords: question measuring

Are Starrett heads and rules interchangeable? I’ve been shopping around for a while now trying to find a good deal on one with no luck (between dirty beat up ones on ebay, or new ones that are over $100. I like the hardened steel feel, but not sure if it’s worth the price, and was wondering if they were able to be purchased part by part, ie, buy a C33 head, and then a rule separately that might’ve gone on a C11, etc..

As far as I know they are interchangeable. I’ve had my starrett for over 12 years now, it’s getting a bit beat up from being dropped too many times :( ... but still works great. I did notice online that there are a couple of places selling the entry-level 12-in. combo square for under $80.00 That’s still a great deal if you amortize it out over 10 years or more. ;)
