Newbie here, I just completed my first project for my wife with the help of a friends tools and shop. I bought a contractor style table saw and I want to build a stand similar to Peteyb – http://lumberjocks.com/Peteyb/blog/29944

Newbie question – does the base need to be the standard 2×4 supported rectangle or can you use a torsion box? Are torsion boxes soley for the top of projects? My saw is heavy, 280lbs with cast iron wings.

Thanks

More info – I mean the regular rectangle with long supports versus the “honeycomb” type torsion box.

Thanks
