I have an AO safety, and a 3M. Since you live in the Maritime Provinces I would look to buy whatever brand you can get replacement cartridges for locally. As a side note, you should be able to get separate cartridges for dust (generally cheaper) and for vapor or painting hazards. The vapor ones have a fairly limited time period for effective use, so I generally store the mask I use for spraying in a tightly closed plastic bag, so it isn’t exposed to ambient air when I am not wearing it.

I use a MSA with the charcol filters for protection from finishes and such. You can find it at your local HomeDepot. They carry a variety of cartridges for the mask, too.
