Topic tags/keywords: question

Just saw a listing for a Grizzly G0490 8” jointer with parallelogram beds and spiral indexed carbide cutter head for $750.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

absolutely. Grizzly jointers have good reputations and that is a fine price for an 8”.

They’re offering them right now for $1195 plus free shipping new, so if it’s in good shape then it’s a good deal.

Why is it for sale?

Thanks guys. I am not exactly sure why he is selling it. I did see that he is also selling his Jet TS/router setup as well. Maybe closing shop.

Spiral head is the only way to go! The two most important pieces in my shop are my 12” Grizzly spiral head jointer and my 20” spiral head planner. The finish is like glass (less finish sanding),there is never any tear out (I run curly maple all the time), No chatter and SMOOTH operation, the heavy construction and base make a solid platform that wont move. In the past I used a 2×4 to prop up the end of my craftsman on longer pieces so it would not over balance. I’ve ran one side of my carbide teeth for more than a year and I still have three more sides to go. You must by this jointer! My warning to you would be, you’ll want the spiral head planner next.
