Wax over Polyurethane? Ok for tabletop usage?

Island counter/bar top. It won’t have continuous water near it (not by a sink) but it will hold its fair share of sweating glasses and hot coffee mugs.

The topmost coat is currently a polyurethane blend. Would introducing wax to the top during the rubbing out phase introduce issues with heat rings or water rings?

It shouldn’t. You could test it on some scrap, and see for yourself.
