I have been lurking around and reading some of the posts, I have leared a lot from the tips and Q&A here. I have saw that several people have odd lots of wood in corners and such. I don’t have a lot of cash but I would like to get small lots of wood for turning pens and other small projects. I can pay the postage for a few flat rate boxes. I am motly interested in hardwoods but any bright or wierd wood will work. I can work with pieces as small as 5/8 X 5/8 X 5 and up to 4 X 4 X 12. If anyone has some to spare send me a message or email me at seawolf64@juno.com.
Thanks, Mark

Mark, as a suggestion, you might want to contact companies/contractors in your area that install hardwood flooring. Cutoffs, such as you are describing, are usually just tossed in the trash when they are doing a floor installation. Another option would be to look into salvaging firewood. There is some interesting hardwood pieces in a lot of firewood piles that can be had often just for the asking.

Another source for some fun material is local counter-top makers. I go in about once a week and go through the trash can of cut-offs. I get all sorts of corian, the textured material, etc. These are great for pens and knife scales. I even sometimes get pieces big enough for flutes.
