Topic tags/keywords: question

I’m new to Sketchup but learning fast, but am having a couple of problems. When I select a component in the Outliner Box and right click, I get what I am assuming are 3 error screens.

1st is: #<sketchup::componentdefinition:ox4eac7a07>

I hit ok in the ok box and get:

I hit ok again and get a 3rd box and get
an inverted yellow triangle with an exclamation mark and ok box. I hit ok and am presented with the right click menu I am trying to access.

When I try to select a component and select the Edit drop down list from the top of page menus I get the same three screens but cannot access that menu till I explode the component.

Any ideas?

Please post here and send me a pm at Thanks.

Have you download and install any plug in? That is a behavior when scketchup or any program looks for something that it registered as installed but it cannot be found. It could be the new plug in is corrupt or it has been deleted.

Could you verify that all your plugins are installed and physically there?

If that is not case, I think you have to uninstall, download it again, and reinstall it.

I removed all plugins from the plugin directory and the problem went away so I have some experimenting to do to figure out what is going on.

While we’re at it, is there any way to get the program to open up with the select tool active? My program opens with the line tool active, so the first thing I always have to do is undo the line that I ALWAYS accidentally draw.

Ok, by removing all the plugins in my plugin directory and reinstalling the cutlist plugin only I have fixed the above problem. And thanks to the generous help from DaveR and fidelfs I can now torture myself with the plugin itself. I have finally gotten the plugin to see that my entire project is using sheet goods, but it shows less than 45% efficiency. Huge amounts of the 1st and 2nd board are unused and only a sliver of the 3rd board is used. If this is as good as this plugin gets then I might as well just guess myself. I will assume that I am at fault, not the plugin. What could I have done to get such horrid results?

Have your say...
