Since Dan Walters has shown up, I had the thought that maybe we should have a LJ consortium-store on eBay. I can’t see any of us buying from each other, perhaps it’s time we showcase our things to the unsuspecting public.
Perhaps there would be a way to get a cut to Martin to help our site, defray expenses, etc. I am so completely poor at the business aspect of this thing that I always consult Pam (my wife) when it comes to marketing. I’d probably be giving stuff away right and left just to have the excuse to make something new.

Any thoughts on this, folks?

It sounds like an interesting idea Doug. The logistics of having multiple builders for a single site might be a problem though.

What about a “mall” where everyone has their own storefront? Then a person could pick from several who could make what they wanted. If they lived close, the shipping charges would not be high.

I know Martin was thinking of creating an LJ store at one time, but he has been very busy with all the new updates and such. I would be ok with a percentage for LJ if it means I did not have to create a store on my own. But, payments and such could be a hassle that way too.

I am sure others have thoughts on this.

Bill, I think multiple delivery points isn’t a problem. That’s exactly how Amazon works. When you purchase an item fro Amazon, it could be delivered from anywhere.

Doug, I think it’s a good idea. I guess it needs someone to pull it all together. Why not give it a go with the help of your wife?

She was of a mind with Bill regarding the logistics and to quote ”Whose going to run it, you don’t have the time”. I just worked an 11 hour shift, and it’s the night before Tuesday Shop Tours deadline. I’m just about booked up.
I’d be interested in more input, as always. Perhaps someone who has distanced themselves from the demands of the 40 hour week. Hmmm, who could it be…

What’s the Tuesday Shop Tours deadline you refer to?

re: the LJ eBay storefront – logistics, logicstics, logistics…seems like a good idea though!
