Topic tags/keywords: question lathe turning

Has anyone ever inlayed marble in a turning project? I have a bunch of marble (big chunks) and I want to incorporate some in my turnings. How does it finish, sand, etc?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve never tried Marble, but I have used solid surface material like they use on countertops. It turns just like the wood but you need sharp tools. If you look at my projects, I think I have some lamps on an end table that I turned.

Look at my projects and go to the Cherry end tables and you’ll see the lamp with the inlay. It sands just like anything else and the higher the grit the shinier it gets. It does creats a bit more dust than the wood.
