So I have this really uncontrollable urge to turn bowls. It just looks so satisfying. I figure I would like to be ale to turn at least a 12” bowl and be able to do table legs if I get the urge (which I guess would rule out shorter lathes). I checked out CL for the past month and haven’t seen anything worthwhile yet

I thought I ask around here to see if anyone maybe got an upgrade for Christmas and was looking to pass on their old lathe to someone else.

I looked at the HF 34706 but think I might hold out for something that has a slower speed than 600 for larger items (although I should be able to get my blanks pretty round on my bandsaw).

Look around for local turning clubs. They probably can fix you up with a good lathe in short order.

Sorry. I’m in Harrisburg PA.

I’ll have to look around for a turning club.

You have a local AAW Chapter … Susquehanna Woodturners. Their website:

Well I went to the local woodcraft and that didn’t help. Had a guy demoing a nova xrp. I asked about the 1624 but they did not know when it would go on sale for $899 next. Arrgh, I hate waiting!

There is nothing used for 100 miles around me!

Have your say...
