I built at a workbench following Paul Sellers blog out of poplar. Great video series, very good bench for both hand and power tools as the removable center well gives a bunch of clamping options. Unfortunately…
I finished the bench with mineral oil. I had extra left over from some cutting boards and I thought it would help with preventing warping in my humid environment and make cleaning up glue droops easier.
Unfortunately the oil seeps into everything. I can’t leave a paper on the bench without it getting soaked in oil quickly. I’ve already damaged some nearly finished projects with final glue ups leading to oil stained wood.
I don’t care about pretty, I’m just looking for a way to either undo what I did or seal the oil in so I can use the bench for finishing a swell. I don’t want a slick surface if I can avoid it, but if need be I might try that as well.
Thanks in advance.
