Topic tags/keywords: bending ply bending board resource question

I am looking for 1/8” poplar/birch bending ply.

I had no idea how difficult it is to find.
Non of the sources I found through GOOGLE have worked out. They are
either wholesale or do not ship. I managed to order a small lot through
ebay, but I’m losing confidence in the seller’s ability to ship.

I would appreciate any suggestions for sources. If you can, please indicate if you have
ordered from your supplier before and how much you think it should cost and—this is a real
streach—if you remember the shipping cost.

I’m not giving up, I’ll post my results as I conclude my search.
Now lets get down to makin’ sawdust
Thanks TheHarr.

I don’t know about shipping. What size, how much do you need. Someone here may have some extra they can send you. Where are you located.

Good suggestion. I plan on doing a lot of vacuum forming so I need a steady supply.
However, for the moment, I need 2 pieces 15” x 19” where it can bend it so the 19”
ends touch.

I guess I could just repay the sender with a check.
Your suggestion turns my situtation into a win/win.
Thanks for your advise.

check out they are in Somerville MA. Look under products and then flexible plywood.
I do believe they ship. I don’t know about quantity.
I do know they have an amazing selection of plywood. In fact before I went to their shop I didnt know what was available. quality stuff too.

If you do strike a deal tell them their buddy from lacascia’s bakery sent them. Maybe its worth a discount.
hope this helps you out.

Try googling “wiggle wood”

It goes by that name a lot.

I use boulter plywood when needing the highest grade bending ply for those special jobs. They make the absolute best. They ship any quantity. Some of their more expensive plys are used in making make aircraft.

Try looking for a local cabinet supplier. a lot of laminate suppliers also sell bending plywood and in the economic times they might sell to people who aren’t small businesses, if not try some local cabinet shop and see if they can order you some. I have done this in the pass for some local woodworkers at a small markup.

Thanks everyone for your fine suggestions. I have found my bending board from two sources.
This question has been resolved so there is no need to continue this thread.

I have bought bending board from two sources.
1. My local hardwood supplier ordered a 8×4 sheet of 1/8” popolar ply. Conclusion, not the greatest, but it works find for making my curve form.
2. I found high quality bending board on eBay. Very good stuff, very reasonable price & shipping. The down side is it comes in small sizes and shipping adds to the cost.

Thanks again, I thought I was alone in the woods. I appreciate the support I received.
End of Thread.

Is this what you’re looking for? It’s only 1/4” thick:
