Did you know that there’s even a patent on a Box Joint Jig? I’ve always wondered why there we’re no commercial ones for sale. All anybody does is sell their plans, on how to make them.. Now I know why.
There must be hundreds of different ones out there. Even Norm has his plans, and he sells his..:) Dam good thing we can shop-make these things. I’ve made one that’s awesome… I’ll be posting it soon…:)
Better than Norm’s even..lol

Craftsman sells a box joint jig for the tablesaw. I have one but seldom use it since I bought a Porter Cable dovetail machine with a box joint template. I feel that a router bit does a better job at geting a flat bottom, and the spaceing is dead on with a template. For the budget minded though, at $50 the Craftsman box joint jig also comes with a miter gauge and can be used for repetitive crosscuts. For that kind of money it’s hard to justify makeing your own. Rockler sells a Woodsmith brand for about $110. I’m sure there are a couple more brands out there.

Well with the average woodworker here being very skilful I am sure they could easily knock up something quite quickly without spending a dime.Having said that there are people out there who just must havea new tool good luck anyway.Alistair

Quickly ? I’m not so sure about that. Without spending a dime ? I believe that. Years ago I built several different sized box joint jigs, I guess they can be fun to make.

I have a Wood Smith box joint jig. Made of aluminum. I’ve made many of them and was never satisfied with the results. This one is right on every time. Set-up is easy too.

I’ve made several myself but was never satisfied with the results. I’m still looking for a good one.

Cabinetmaster, if you want to purchase one, I don’t think you can beat the WoodSmith.
