hey everybody, i have been looking for a dovetailr jig for quite some time, and i have narrowed it down to the Omnijig and the Leigh jig. what i want to know is your opinions, i want to know which one you think is better and why. i personally am leaning more towards the largest Leigh jig…but i do know a place were i can get the largest Omnijig for about 600 $. so I’m just trying to figure out which one is better and why.

I have a Leigh. It works great for me. 24” is wide enough for almost anything I will ever do.

I imagine that others with the Omnijig will say the same. You probably won’t go wrong with either.

I have heard that those pre-set depth things on the Omnijig are nice if you are only using 3/4” lumber
but useless otherwise.

Just get the inch or metric model. They make both.

Go to: http://www.leighjigs.com/support.php#r20

and check out the manual.

I researched this same subject last fall. People that have the Omni Jig like it except for that fact that you have to buy another $600 worth of accessories to go along with the jig in order to make it “complete”. Although the Omni Jig is a nice piece of equipment, the general consensous is that the Leigh D4R worked as good if not better, and in the long run was cheaper if you wanted to add all of the bells and whistles. I talked to a couple of places that sell the Omni Jig and the Leigh and they recommended to go with the Leigh. Amazon.com sells the Omni Jig for $599.
