Topic tags/keywords: question

I was wondering if anyone out there has any info on this new lathe? Delta 46-460 lathe & 46-463 Bed Extension. I saw it a my woodworkers guild as a demo from the Dewalt regional guy and have found a press release stating the lathe will be available in the first quarter of 2009.

Anyone getting late delivery of delta machines? I hear that they are not getting things out to people on time????

Tim,
Thanks, I go to a big woodworking show at 3/27/2009 down around the DC area and hope to find out something then hopefully. The guy at your WWstore know what the price may be? What did you think of the lathe?

They had the lathe for $539. This was 10% off for their woodworking show. I think the lathe is comparable to the Jet 12-20. The drive belt is wider on the Delta with better access. The Delta is 16” long versus 20” but both need an extension for 36” spindles so this didn’t matter for me. A local turning chapter was using it with no complaints. It has a 5 year warranty if I remember right.

I could not wait any longer so I got the Jet 1220 and an extension bed Saturday at the woodworking show in Va. I did see the guy that introduced the lathe to the woodwrkers guild and he said that it would not be in until mid summer so I just got the jet from my friend at the show. I did save some money and it will be here in a week. Where did they get the one you are talking about?

The one at our show was what they called a pre production prototype. I looked it over and it appeared to be good enough to sell. Awhile back I read on this site that they were having problems with the power switch and meant to have them out by christmas 08. If this and now mid summer is true they must have made more drastic changes. I signed up for one but good thing I didn’t pay for it yet.

Have your say...
