My friend of 60+ years picked up his shotgun, went into his back yard and ended it all.
He had had cryptogenic neuropathy for over 13 years. I always thought he would go the pill route when he couldn’t take it anymore.
It would have been easier to tell his small grandchildren that he died in his sleep.
I feel sadness for his family. I have no sadness for him, just a feeling of emptiness. We talked frequently on the phone as we live 1500 miles apart. Now that is a hole in my life but not as big as he left behind in others.
Thanks for listening.
