Since I have a rather small shop, I try to make tool setups to incorporate more than one operation to save space. I am working on a table saw base that will include a router table and an air filter.

My question is does anyone see a problem with having a floor based air filter rather than one attached to the ceiling? I should be getting between 1500 and 2000 cfm through my filter and I will be using 20”x25” filters so I will have plenty of airflow.

I tend to think that dust particles are more or less evenly distributed vertically through a room so mounting the air filter near the floor will work just as well as on the ceiling.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

It should work fine at most any level but I would put it out of the way on the ceiling. That is where mine is and it never in the way, up there.

I have been thinking of incorporating an air cleaner in a mobile assembly table, so I am interested in hearing other LJs answers to your question as well. Thanks for posting.
