I have a really good shaper and love it but I really dislike the fence. Just curious if anyone has any good ideas, designs or photo’s of a better and safer alternative. I know Steel city and Delta has an updgrade fence but very expensive, may as well buy the whole shaper. It would be nice to have a fence that I could build that incorporated featherboards, holdowns etc.

Me too! My dad keeps saying we need to build a deluxe router station and I continually respond with, “why do we need a router table when we have this awesome shaper?”. I have the Jet Close Stand Shaper and love it. But I can’t stand the fence. I envy the seemingly precise and user friendly solutions the deluxe router stations have. If you come up with an idea let me know. I might start developing a plan to construct an add-on that mimics the router versions.

I read many articles on Shaper and Router before decided to buy router and converted it into a Router Table. Shaper is awsome machine. It cuts clean profile at one pass. But the cutter is so expensive that I couldn’t afford to.

I’m sure there many LJs having Shaper who built the fences themselves. I posted this response just to refresh this forum at the top of the list as the latest visited/replied so as to get LJs attention.
