I just bought a new Jet 16/32 drum sander. I had problems getting the conveor to track no matter what I did. I called them and they had me drill out the bracket for the front roller and adjust it forward. After that I does track, but I still have to have the tension tight on the outboard side and extra loose on the inboard side, so the conveor belt lifts off the table about 1/4”on the inboard side in a couple places as it runs. The customer service rep said this will settle down the more I use it. Has anyone else had this problem?? One of the features is that you can sand as thin as 1/16” without a backer board and it even shows and says it in the DVD they gave me with the machine and all the research I did before I bought it, but if I sand anything under about 5/16” I will destroy the conveor belt. I have about 1 hr on the machine and it isn’t any better, should I give it more time or call them back??? I just don’t know if this is common. Any help would be great.

I suggest you return it and get a new one. I’ve never had the problem you describe.

just an update, I called Jet, talked to a different rep, and told him about the problems I was having and was still very unhappy. They are taking a new one out of thier parts inventory, testing and tuning it, and shipping it out. I get to keep my original assembly that I have in case I ever need the parts from it as well. They were very helpful. and by Monday I should be up and going.

Nice to find a company that stands behind their product. I’ll remember that about Jet.
